Join the Dutch Young ITI Speaker Contest on June 22nd.
The 4 top speakers will be selected to go to the online Divisional series in August 2023, where you compete with other countries in our region. The winning division will compete in the grand finale in Singapore.
Entry Criteria
You are 38 years or younger at the time of submission
You are able to present in English language
You have a clinical or Research-driven presentation in the field of implant dentistry
You are able and willing to travel to Singapore from May 8-11, 2024
You are, or will become, an ITI member before entering the Divisional Series.
How to join
Write an abstract of maximum 300 words describing the presentation and submit the abstract before May 22nd 2023.
Write your biography of max. 150 words and send it in as well.
Send your documents in PDF to Netherlands@itisection.org before May 22nd 2023.
June 22nd - Section Auditions
The local round of the speaker contest takes place on June 22nd in the beautiful venue of Kasteel Woerden. 8 of the shortlisted applicants get the chance to present their case in a real lecture setting in front of a jury and peers. Send in your application before May 22nd and in the beginning of June the 8 local finalists are selected.
Dr. J.W.A Slot graduated as a dentist from the University of Groningen in 1991. He then worked at the Department of Oral Surgery at the University Medical Center Groningen (UMCG). He works as a dentist/implantologist at the Center for Dentistry and Oral Hygiene (CTM) at UMCG. He conducted his research at the Kolff Institute as part of the Maintaining Oral Health and Oral Function research project. His disseration was titled "Implant-supported maxillary overdentures’’.
Prof. Dr. Gerry Raghoebar
Prof. Dr. Gerry Raghoebar
Prof. Dr. Gerry Raghoebar completed his studies in dentistry and medicine in Groningen. Since 1988 he has been working as an MKA surgeon at the University Medical Center Groningen. On January 1, 2006, he was appointed professor at the University of Groningen with a personal chair in Implantology.
In addition to clinical work, he conducts and supervises research, and is involved in teaching as a lecturer. He teaches various postgraduate courses and lectures at home and abroad.

Dr. Theo J.M. Hoppenreijs
Dr. Theo J.M. Hoppenreijs graduated as a dentist (1983, cum laude) and physician (1992) from Radboud University in Nijmegen. The specialization in Oral, Maxillofacial and Maxillofacial Surgery (MKA-surgery) was completed in 1990. After working for several years as an MKA surgeon at the University Medical Center St Radboud in Nijmegen, he transferred to the partnership of MKA surgeons at Rijnstate Hospital in Arnhem in 1993. In 1999 he obtained his doctorate with a thesis on "Anterior open bite deformity; an observational three-center study". Areas of interest are implantology, pre-implant surgery, oral osteotomies, and oncology. In these areas, he is active both nationally and internationally in scientific and training fields. He was recognized by the NVMKA as an oncologist in 2000 and recognized by the NVOI as an implantologist in 2003. In the Center for Dental Replacement Implantology 'Arnhem Dental' he has been working as an implantologist since 2007. At board/committee level he is active in Rijnstate hospital, in the professional association (NMT) and in the scientific association (NVMKA and NVOI)). He is involved in Rijnstate Hospital and responsible for the specialist training of MKA surgeons.

Bert Schulten is professor of Oral Diseases, Maxillofacial and Maxillofacial Surgery at the VUmc and ACTA. He studied dentistry and
medicine at the Free University (1987) and was trained to MKA surgeon at the VUmc. He is an IT Fellow. His areas of interest are the
reconstructive oral surgery and implantology, especially in patients who have been treated for a tumour in the head and neck region, patients with oligodontia and an atrophic one edentulous jaw. In addition to his duties on he is a trainer in the field of patient care, research and education responsible for the training to MKA surgeon at the VUmc.

Prof. D. Wismeijer
Daniel Wismeijer is former Professor for Oral Implantology and Prosthetic Dentistry at ACTA Amsterdam appointed as Chair and Head of the Oral Function and Restorative Dentistry section. His degree is from the University of Nijmegen Dental School (1984). Until 2006, he worked at the Amphia Teaching Hospital in Breda.
He is past president of the Dutch Prosthodontic Association and the Dutch Association for Gnathology. In the ITI, he served on the ITI Education Committee for eight years, he is a member of the ITI Research Committee as well as an ITI Board Member.
The winning division will go to Singapore in May 2024.

Young ITI: Aisha Bajwa
Aisha Bajwa is the owner of Mondzorgkliniek Molenlanden and graduated in 2011 from the University of Amsterdam, ACTA (Academic Center for Dentistry). Since then, Aisha has worked as a general practitioner in various group practices, gaining experience in all aspects of dentistry. In 2017 she started the postgraduate programme 'Oral implantology & prosthetics' at VU University Amsterdam, ACTA, which she successfully completed in August 2020. Aisha is a NVOI recognized Implantologist. In addition to her own practice, she also works as an implantologist at Verwijspraktijk Dordrecht and Dental Clinic Schiedam.
